Shohei Ohtani Wins His Fourth Silver Slugger Award — Redefining Greatness at the Plate

Major League Baseball (MLB) announced the winners of the 2025 Silver Slugger Awards on November 6 (JST).
The prestigious award recognizes the best offensive players at each position in both the American and National Leagues—essentially, the “Best Nine” for hitters.

In the National League’s designated hitter (DH) category, Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers earned the honor, marking his third consecutive and fourth overall Silver Slugger Award.
With this achievement, Ohtani surpassed Ichiro Suzuki to become the most awarded Japanese player in MLB history.

Unmatched Numbers at the Plate

This season, Ohtani played in 158 games as a hitter, posting a .282 batting average, 55 home runs, 102 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases.
His 1.014 OPS (on-base plus slugging) ranked among the best in the league, and his 146 runs scored set a new modern-era franchise record for the Dodgers.

Ohtani’s consistency and leadership made him the offensive cornerstone of the Dodgers lineup, helping the team secure the title of the most productive offense in the National League for the second straight year.

A Historic Milestone for Japanese Baseball

With this latest honor, Ohtani has broken Ichiro’s record of three Silver Slugger Awards, solidifying his place as the most decorated Japanese hitter in MLB history.
Including his seasons with the Angels, Ohtani has now claimed the award in 2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025—a testament to his evolution as one of the game’s elite sluggers.

The news has sparked widespread celebration on social media.
Dodgers teammate Yoshinobu Yamamoto even dropped a congratulatory “like,” while fans worldwide flooded timelines with messages of admiration and pride.

Looking Ahead

Earning three straight Silver Slugger titles underscores Ohtani’s dedication to excellence—not only as a dual-threat player but as a true student of the game.
With his unique blend of power, discipline, and humility, he continues to inspire millions around the world.

As he eyes another possible MVP title, one thing is certain: Shohei Ohtani is far from done rewriting baseball history.
